Brian Ready To Jump
Owls boss Brian Laws is planning a parachute jump this summer to raise funds for the Sheffield Children's Hospital.
Having visited the hospital on several occasions, Brian has met numerous brave young children who have to spend time in hospital for various reasons.
One of those children, Daniel Grice, has had a really hard time with leukemia. Being a big fan of Brian's former club, Scunthorpe United, Daniel was delighted to meet the Owls boss last year.
Brian has since visited Daniel at Sheffield Children's Hospital a few times and also visited the 12-year-old's home in Scunthorpe last Christmas.
Having got to know each other better, Daniel challenged Brian to do a parachute jump for the Children's Hospital and, despite a fear of heights, the Wednesday manager agreed to raise as much money as possible for the worthy cause.
"I am scared of heights," Brian admitted. "I am certainly not doing this for fun and the aim is to do something special for Daniel Grice, who is a great kid, as well as raise funds for Sheffield Children's Hospital.
"The Children's Hospital do a wonderful job in providing the much needed, sometimes life saving, health care to countless children so I agreed to take up Daniel's challenge."
"I would urge people to give generously to this cause because Sheffield Children's Hospital makes a real positive difference for so many young people and their families."
Brian's parachute jump will take place on July 9 at Hibaldstow Airfield near Brigg in Lincolnshire.
