Laws Praises Strikers
Sheffield Wednesday manager, Brian Laws, praised the form of his strike force on Saturday with Steven MacLean returning to the starting line-up to score his 12th of the season.
Speaking after the 2-0 win over Ipswich Town at Hillsborough, Laws said: "It wasn't a fantastic performance by us but I thought in the last three days we have put in an awful lot of work and that is credit to the players. They have dug in deep and it wasn't pretty at times but in the second half we took control of the game and in the end just about deserved it.
"You need a little bit of luck on your side sometimes to get a clean sheet as well because they are very rare and it doesn't matter how we are going to get the results at this time it is important to keep the run going."
Wednesday are now nine games unbeaten but the clean sheet against Jim Magilton's team was only the second of 2007. And Laws is particularly pleased that whoever he picks up front seems to get on the score sheet at the moment.
"It is a fantastic position to be in as a manager, we keep freshening things up and we brought MacLean in. He's got a goal and in the last game, against Cardiff, we brought Leon Clarke in and he scored a goal. It's really encouraging for us knowing that we can get goals from any of the strikers at this moment in time."
