Brian Laws and Russ WilcoxOwls boss, Brian Laws, was left delighted that his side had recorded another victory on Saturday, beating Coventry City 2-1 at Hillsborough.

Laws was forced into numerous changes during the match but was delighted to see his side triumph with goals from Marcus Tudgay and Steven MacLean.

"It was a scrappy fight today, it wasn't fluent football by any stretch of the imagination and I have got to be honest, I have sympathy with Coventry," The Wednesday manager admitted. "Although they had a disappointing result last week, Iain Dowie certainly got them fired up to prove a point that they are nod as bad as the defeat against Preston last week suggested.

"They worked very hard, got in our faces and made it very difficult for us. The fact that we had to make so many changes early on didn't make help the fluency of the football. But I think everyone will agree that it is not really the performance we are looking at now at this stage of the season; we are just trying to get the win and then the next win after that and see where it takes."

Laws went on: "We rode our luck today, Coventry hit the post twice when they probably should have scored but sometimes you need that luck. We will take it gladly while it is with us. While you are on a run like this you go into games more and more confident that you are going to win it.

"Tudgay had to come off because of a dead leg very early in the game, it wasn't quite ready for Jermaine Johnson because he was not quite match fit and he was tugging towards the end. Chris Brunt has got a knock, Lee Bullen was a doubt before the game, Deon Burton had a scratched eye and couldn't see properly so there were a lot of circumstances that could have gone against us but today it went for us because there is a great belief in the camp."
