Beevers Is YOUR Player Of The Year!
As we approach the end of another long campaign here at Sheffield Wednesday we are pleased to announce that young defender Mark Beevers has won the club's Player of The Year Award.
The prestigious award ,sponsored by Taylor & Emmet Solicitors, and voted for by Owls fans at swfc.co.uk was awarded to Mark following a stunning first season for the Owls.
Since earning his place in Brian Laws' starting eleven, the 18-year-old has earned many plaudits, becoming a crowd favourite at Hillsborough. His strong performances have earned a first cap for England's Under-19 side as well as two Player of the Month awards voted for by the fans.
The Owls Academy product also claimed the Wickes Young Apprentice of The Year Award in March, having held off stiff competition from Joe Mattock of Leicester City and Lee Hills of Crystal Palace.
Beevers also picked up the club's Defender of the Year title in the club's positional Player of the Year voting. Meanwhile Jermaine Johnson and Akpo Sodje took the Midfielder of the Year and Striker of the Year titles respectively.
The Goal of the Season vote saw left back Tommy Spurr finishing top of the pile for his stunning volley against Plymouth last week while Francis Jeffers' strike against Hull City and Ben Sahar's goal against Crystal Palace came a close second and third.
Come back to the official website soon for player reaction to these awards.
