Lee Grant has spoken of his delight on three fronts after helping the Owls to safety on Sunday as well as scooping two personal club accolades.

The Wednesday keeper received the Players' Player of the Year award and the Taylor and Emmet Player of the Month title for April prior to Sunday's success over Norwich that sealed survival.

And Grant promptly went on to produce a pivotal first half save from Matty Pattison that contributed in no small way to Wednesday winning the game.

He exclusively told Wednesday World: "I think that save gave the lads a lift because from there on in, I didn't really have much to do to be honest.

"Obviously, it's nice to get some recognition now and again, it's been a good season for me. To receive the recognition from my team mates and the fans is even better and the awards are gratefully accepted."

Never one to rest on his laurels, Grant - together with his S6 consorts - has pledged to eradicate the problem of conceding early goals that threatened to blight the late stages of the Owls' campaign.

Wednesday had one of the worst records in the division for an early concession, albeit countered by the best at bouncing back.

Grant said: "We've had some stick from the manager about it, I think we were taking years off his life expectancy every time we did it!

"Now the season is over, we will sit down and see about instilling some steel into the team before we start games because we seemed to produce more after going a goal behind."
