Owls To Tour Netherlands In July
Sheffield Wednesday will travel to The Netherlands this summer as they prepare for the 2008/09 Championship campaign.
The Owls will fly to Holland on Sunday, July 13, with two matches arranged for the five-day trip across the North Sea.
Wednesday will face HFC Haarlem on Tuesday, July 15 and Stormvogels Telstar on Thursday, July 17, with both matches kicking off at 7pm local time.
The Owls will be hosted in Holland by HSV Football Club in Heiloo, Noord Holland, and both pre-season friendly matches will be played at HSV's ground, Sportpark het Maalwater, in stadium "de Basis" in town.
Heiloo is located approximately 25 miles north from Amsterdam near Alkmaar, near the coast, and the HSV-stadium is just a ten minute walk from the Heiloo railway station.
There is a frequent train service between Amsterdam Central Station and Heiloo and the journey will not take longer than half an hour.
HSV Club Secretary, Fred Brenner, said: "We are looking forward to welcoming Sheffield Wednesday this summer and HSV Football Club would like to invite the Owls fans to come over to Holland to enjoy their time here."
Both of the Owls opponents on this tour are top flight Dutch sides, which will prove challenging opponents for Brian Laws' team. HFC Haarlem was the first club of Dutch legend Ruud Gullit while striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink started his career at Telstar.
Admission to the matches will be just five euros and further information is available from HSV by emailing: info@vv-hsv.nl
