Having finished the season strongly for the Owls, young midfielder Sean McAllister has been rewarded for his outstanding displays with the offer of a new contract.

The SWFC academy product broke into the side in March, playing his part in the 2-1 victory over QPR and was able to retain his place in the middle, impressing boss Brian Laws.

As a reward for his hard work and fighting spirit, McAllister has been offered a new contract to keep him at S6 as Paul Thompson of the Sheffield Star reported on Thursday:

"Some would say he is at a disadvantage because of his height. But McAllister walks tall in Laws' eyes because of his attitude and work rate."

"Sean is a player who took his opportunity," said the Owls manager. "He is wholehearted. He has shown everybody what you can do with hard work; you can get into the side and show how important the work ethic is. Sean might lack height but he doesn't lack bottle."

Meanwhile Owls Player of the Year Mark Beevers has not ruled out playing in midfield should he be called upon. Beevers has experience of playing in the middle up until under-15 level when he switched to centre back, but believes he could step into the role as Paul Thompson writes:

"If an emergency arose and Brian Laws wanted someone to do a job in midfield, could the 18 year old be the man? Beevers believes the answer is yes - for he used to be a midfielder until a few years ago."

"I reckon I could do a job in midfield but obviously my preferred position is centre-half now," Beevers admitted.

"His experience as a midfield player is perhaps reflected in his mobility and comfort on the ball - two of the qualities that have made him such an impressive figure in the Owls back four, besides his heading and defending."
