Owls Player of the Year, Mark Beevers, has told Wednesday World that he is not paying any attention to newspaper speculation as he aims to build a big career for himself.

The 18-year-old, who signed a new contract at Hillsborough running until 2012 earlier this year, has been linked with numerous Premier League clubs since his introduction to the Owls first team halfway through the recent season.

But in the second part of his latest exclusive with Wednesday World Beevers insists that paper talk does not bother him.

"I've just thought of it as speculation," he said. "I've come in for training and people have told me that clubs are in for me but I've just got to keep my feet on the ground really and just carry on working hard in every game I play in. I don't listen too much to what people have to say and just concentrate on my game."

Having signed that long-term deal, Beevers, stressed he is certainly focussed on developing his game at the club where he has made his name.

"I love Sheffield Wednesday, I love the fans and I love playing every game I play in for the club," he enthused.

Mark also reflected on the many awards he has picked up this season from the Wickes Young Apprentice of the Year to the official SWFC Player of the Year and many more in between.

"It has been a great season for me," Beevers went on. "Counting all the awards, I think I have won eight or nine, so it has been brilliant. I will build a little cabinet for when I get a few more and it should look decent."

But the 6ft 4in centre half is not getting carried away and is making sure he keeps in good shape during the off season ahead of the 2008/09 campaign.

"We have got to keep up standards during the summer. We have got to watch what we are doing and keep our fitness to make sure our bodies are right for pre-season," he added.
