Steve moved to Hillsborough from West Bromwich Albion in July 2007, signing a two-year deal with the Owls.
A highly versatile performer who can operate at right-back, centre-half or in midfield, he was recruited primarily by Brian Laws to bring experience to the defence with the knowledge amassed in over 500 senior games from a 16-year professional career.
The North Shields product started out at local club Newcastle United in 1991 and played 263 Magpies games before a £4m switch to Aston Villa in 1998. Watson spent two years at Villa Park before moving on to Everton for £2.5m, representing the Toffees on 136 occasions prior to joining WBA in 2005.
